Moment Of Motherhood- Los Angeles Nursing Photography

This session is from last years National Breastfeeding Month sale. Her photos can be seen on my main page but I just noticed I hadn't blogged them yet. This mama radiated motherhood at her session with me. Her gentle parenting (and perfect livingroom window light) quickly became the highlight of our session when Westley was more interested in checking me out than nursing. The thing I love about nursing sessions is they are so much more than pictures of a baby at the breast. They show a bond and connection between a mother and her child. Older nurslings are often distracted by my camera at nursing sessions but I take my time and photograph them playing and cuddling with their mothers as well as nursing.

My daughter being in a cast was not exactly how we expected to spend our winter break. I was thinking of taking the kids to the snow while we were in Northern California. Possibly even snowboarding. When Kara came home with an injured elbow we had to change out plans a bit! So instead, we started our winter break a few days early and took it easy! She was such a trooper about the cast. She even went to see Santa (someone who she is normally not very fond of) and let him sign it! On the day her cast (filled with art and well wishes from her friends, family and Santa!) was the be removed I took some time to photographer her with it. It was a fun way to celebrate her healing and how brave she was those 2 weeks!

I pictured these moody, serious little bit grunge looking images... I should have know that they would turn out like this when I used my own kids as the models! Well, I got one! That has gotta count for something right?
