Meet Jakob.
You may remember him from his Malibu maternity session a few weeks ago. :::wink:::
After having so much for with his parents at the beach I could not wait to meet him.
He did not disappoint! He was so precious and content. Very alert and interested in what I was up to with my camera.
His mama, who is a fellow photographer, is going to have so much fun photographing him as he grows up. He is already clearly a great little model!

Week 4
Today is my day to practice whimsey,
skip on the beach, and play with the waves,
watch wondrous cloud animals parade my story,
find a magical white bunny down every rabbit hole.

Week 2.
Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Kara lived it up in the sunshine last night! While the boys dug in the sand Kara danced her heart out while yelling "the tide is coming in" at each wave. I feel so blessed to live in Los Angeles where a Friday in January looks like this...

What better way to say good-bye to L.A. than with a Santa Monica family photo shoot at sunset? That is exactly what this sweet family did. Just days before moving across the country they met up with me for some beach time! My favorite part of this family shoot was when little Z let me wear him on my back in his Ergo Baby for a few shots of his mama and daddy! That's my tick for not letting babies eat sand!
Thank you guys for spending this precious time with me and I wish you many blessings as you start your new life in your new home ♥

The moment I met these two moms I instantly fell in love. Their home, their yard, their story, their overflowing love for each other. Soft spoken, gentle and kind. I wrote a little about that first meeting HERE. That is where you will also find their maternity photos.
When I arrived for the birth, I walked into their home and it was empty. I looked around to find everyone was in the back yard garden. Jody was quietly laboring on a birthing ball, her wife by her side. Her midwife and doula close by looked up at me with calming smiles while Hypnobabies played in the background.
I had just walked into a magical birthing garden. :::swoon:::
I am so honored to have been invited to welcome baby Soren into the world. I have been to many births, never before have I been so emotional at a birth. I teared up more times than I can remember and was in full on tears at times, overjoyed with all the beauty and love. I can not wait to watch this family grow and take many more photos of their life.
This birth was also attended by Becca Gorden of Two Doulas Birth, Sue Wolcott of Shasta Midvies, and Abigail Morgan of Float Chinese Medical Arts

While I patiently wait for the birth of these two mamas baby, I have been busy working on their maternity photos. It was hard to not just share everyone from their shoot. These photos were shot simply in the yard filled with life and their room filled with books where they will welcome their baby Earthside any day now. The love and gentleness these two had for each other was so beautiful to witness. I can not wait to attend their home birth and do their newborn photos in the upcoming weeks.

Mommy & Me - Los Angeles Baby Photography
Kai and his mommy invited me to their highrise home for a mommy and me shoot. High above L.A. in their beautiful bedroom we attempted to get Kai to nurse, Kai had other plans! He was so interested in my camera and what I was doing in his room that he wasn't interested in his mama's milk. We were able to get a few nursing shots but we made the best of it and took the opportunity to get some sweet photos of him and his mama together.
Beautiful view, adorable bedroom, gorgeous mama and super cute baby...
Lately I have been checking out the book shelves in the homes I visit. I love to see the contrast between pre-baby and post-baby books. I have never been a fan of the saying "a baby changes everything" but they sure do change your book shelf!

Mother And Baby - LA breastfeeding Photographer
Miss Ruby stole my heart the minute I walked into her home. She was so smooshy and clearly so connected with her mama. It was so sweet watching her and her mother interact. So much l0ve.
Ruby with her little curls smoothy legs, adorable diaper cover! (I'm a suckers for cute cloth diapers!)
At the end of her shoot I reached out to Ruby (because who could resist shoomshing on this baby?) and she came right to me! We cuddled a for a minute before she went back for some more mama's milk!
Thank you sweet baby for the cuddles and thank you mama for making such cuddly babies!

Banksy Balloon Girl
Street art is part of city life. I love watching my regular drives transform even without structural changes. It makes me think, creates interesting conversation sometimes just confuses me...
Either way, I love it.My all time favorite piece is Banksy's balloon girl. It has always reminded me of my daughter. Her hair blowing in the wind, little dress over jeans..
I see innocence, I see loss, I see hope, I see myself... Let Go.
I have had this shot in my mind for a few weeks. Last night my husband, daughter and I went for it! We hike as high as we could over Griffith Park and set up this Banksy inspired shot of my 5 year old Kara Justice.
If you are not familiar with Banksy or the art that inspired my photo you can find more is his work at www.banksy.co.uk
